The afternoon will be held at the Village Hall in Waddington and will feature two slots for everyone to play as a Massed Band. All abilities from beginner to more advanced will be catered for. All people need to bring is an instrument and a stand. Lincolnshire Brass Band Musical Directors’ can have the opportunity to conduct the massed band as well. The idea is to have an opportunity for all brass band members to play and socialise – its something that brass players just don’t do often enough and the idea is that its a very fun and sociable event. The afternoon will also feature indoor and outdoor fun and games and a BBQ for all band members and their families – hopefully it will be warm enough to play outside. There is no charge for the event, as the idea is that the event is accessible to all, however all that play are invited to make a contribution of £2 (£4 for entire families) as all profits from the day will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Foss Dyke do need to have an idea of numbers, so people that would like to attend should please send an email to : Chairman Friends and players of all ages and abilities will be very welcome. |
Who we are Foss Dyke is a traditional English Brass Band, based in Lincoln, with its roots dating back to 1974 when it commenced life as a local village band. It has subsequently grown in stature and in the quality of its performance and activities rapidly established itself as "Lincolnshire's Premier Brass Band" as a result of its success in contesting against other bands at a regional and national level. What we do Foss Dyke Band has an excellent profile from it's contesting activities against other bands and competes 3 or 4 times a year with a good deal of success. In addition it has a full programme of regular engagements including Last Night of the Proms concerts; entertaining the crowds at the RAF Waddington International Airshow; and playing for BBC Radio. Foss Dyke Band compete in the 1st Section of the National Brass Band Association Championships. New Musical Director We are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Murrell as our new Musical Director to lead the band from November 2009.
